While your point is well taken, and your optimism is noted, you miss the point of the lawsuits, and the core legal issue at play. This has to be handled in the courts now, much the same as gender was handled years ago. Cultural norms almost always paved the way for the slow to adjust legal system. It is inherent in the way our system was designed. Beyond the legal system, as you acknowledge, there is also a bubble in which some people have a better understanding of communities that differ from their own, the LGBTQ community especially. It may be helpful for you to take a look at how these people think, interact with them, and use that as a tool to be more convincing in your arguments. I’ve taken that challenge on myself and found that I can be a better advocate by challenging their deeper assumptions about the way the world works.
